FAQ

There are so many places we’d like to visit in Japan. Can we customize our own tour plan?
Absolutely! Just let us know the spots you’d like to visit, and we’ll create a plan based on your preferences.
I’m worried about communicating in Japanese at facilities or restaurants. Will the driver stay with us at each sightseeing spot?
If parking is available nearby, the driver can accompany you to the spot. Simply let us know in advance if you’d like the driver to guide you to each location.
Can we have a tour guide in addition to the driver? If so, how does the pricing work?
Yes, we can arrange a private guide for an additional fee. Availability depends on the area, so please send us your request and we’ll let you know the details.
How are breaks and meals handled during the private tour? Can we make our own restaurant reservations?
Meals are not included in the tour package. You’re welcome to make your own reservations, but please check with us first—some restaurants may affect the timing of the tour itinerary.
What happens in case of a natural disaster or emergency during the tour?
In such cases, the driver will gather local information and coordinate with our company or your travel agency to decide the best and safest course of action.
This is our first time visiting Japan. Are there any cultural differences we should be aware of during the private tour?
We’d like to share some common Japanese manners to help you enjoy your trip:
  • Bowing (Ojigi): A common way to show respect or gratitude. A simple nod or slight bow is usually enough.
  • Shoes: In homes, some restaurants, traditional inns, temples, and other places, you’ll need to remove your shoes. Slippers are usually provided.
  • Quietness: Keep your voice low on trains and in public spaces. Phone calls should be avoided in these areas.
  • Tipping: Tipping is not customary in Japan. Service charges are usually included in the bill.
  • Cash: Japan is still a cash-oriented society, especially in rural areas. We recommend carrying some cash as many shops don’t accept credit cards.
  • Sales Tax: Prices usually include tax, but some stores may list it separately.
  • Smoking: Smoking is strictly limited to designated areas.
  • Trash: Garbage disposal is highly regulated. Since public trash bins are scarce, you may need to carry your trash until you find a proper place to dispose of it.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask your driver.
Will the driver take photos for us?
Of course! Anytime the driver isn’t driving (and where photography is allowed), you can ask them to take pictures for you.
Is the driver knowledgeable about duty-free shops, restaurants with English menus, or other tourist-friendly spots?
Drivers are familiar with these places, but because stores and menus change frequently, they may not have the latest details like a dedicated expert would. If you have specific requests, please let us know at least 7 days before your tour, and we’ll research everything for you.
Do you provide an English-speaking guide?
Yes, Charter Bus Limousine & Japan provides English-speaking guides for sightseeing and Meet & Greet service.
What kind of language does the guide speak?
English but we provide Russian, Chinese, Korean speaking guides in some area. Please ask customer service.
Do I need to tip the driver?
No, tips are not necessary in Japan.
Does Charter Bus & Limousine Japan accept credit cards?
Yes. We accept credit cards of VISA, Master, American Express and Diners. When you book your reservation and we obtain approval from the credit card company, we will charge your card.
